Global Energy Giants Gather to Shenzhen IDEE 2025 - Reshaping the Future of Energy with Digital Solutions

From:IDEE Updated:2025-08-29

From September 18 to 21, 2025, the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian will host the 2025 International Digital Energy Expo. Under the theme "Al-Empowered Shenzhen, Digitally-Driven Future," the expo will, for the first time,  cover the entire generation-grid-load-storage industry chain, creating an innovation ecosystem across 50,000 square meters. More than 400 companies, including Huawei, Sunwoda, Towngas, BYD, Shenzhen Energy Group and other industry leaders, will showcase nearly 1,000 cutting-edge technologies.

Seven exhibition zones presenting a panoramic view of energy transition pathways

The coordinated development of power generation, grid, load and storage is a key element for building a new energy system. The 2025 International Digital Energy Expo, centered around "digital intelligence, innovation, green development, synergy, and collaboration," aligns closely with the digital transformation trend across the entire generation-grid-load-storage chain. Seven dedicated exhibition zones will showcase pathways for energy transformation, featuring green equipment, smart technologies, scenario-based solutions, and extended service ecosystems. These include:

The Green Energy Area ("Generation") -- Focusing on solar, wind, water, nuclear, and biomass power generation, this zone will present cutting-edge technologies and products including high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) cells, perovskite modules, floating wind power platforms, and advanced nuclear energy systems.

The Future Grid Area ("Grid")--Centered on building a smart and flexible new-generation power system, this zone will showcase technologies including flexible high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission, digital twin technology for grid management, virtual power plant platforms, grid integration solutions for distributed energy resources, and ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission equipment.

The Smart Load Area ("Load") -- Focusing on user-side energy management, this zone will present intelligent building energy efficiency systems, industrial load regulation devices, AI-powered electricity consumption prediction algorithms, and smart community energy routers.

The New Energy Storage Area ("Storage") -- It covers diverse energy storage technologies, including long-duration energy storage systems, vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB), sodium-ion batteries, flywheel energy storage, and advanced energy storage safety early-warning platforms.

The AI Empowerment Area ("Tech Chain") -- It demonstrates the integrated application of AI and energy technologies, including renewable energy power forecasting models, equipment health assessment systems, intelligent O&M robots, and digital twin-based energy management platforms.

The Clean And Low-Carbon Area ("Eco Chain") -- Aligned with China's "dual carbon" goals, this zone highlights CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage), green electricity substitution schemes, carbon asset management tools, and direct air capture (DAC) systems.

The International Enterprises Area ("Cooperation Chain") -- Focusing on global cooperation in digital energy technology, this zone will present products, technologies, and solutions from international companies in the field of digital energy.

A gathering of industry leaders

At this year's expo, leading companies including Huawei Digital Power, Sunwoda, and Towngas Smart Energy will present their groundbreaking solutions, demonstrating their innovative capabilities as technology pioneers in driving the transformation and development of the energy industry.

Huawei Digital Power: Committed to integrating digital and power electronics technologies, the company promote clean energy and energy digitalization to drive the energy revolution and create a greener, better future. At the upcoming 2025 International Digital Energy Expo, Huawei Digital Power will once again present its latest smart photovoltaic storage solutions and ultra-fast charging technologies, contributing to the acceleration of global carbon neutrality goals.

Sunwoda: As a global leader in lithium-ion battery technology, Sunwoda has the mission of “Innovation drives the progress of new energy world.” With deep expertise in the lithium battery sector, the company has built a comprehensive business portfolio spanning five key areas: consumer products, power technology, energy technology, smart hardware, and innovation & ecosystem. At this year’s expo, Sunwoda will introduce its high-capacity 684Ah energy storage cell, the NoahX outdoor liquid cooling energy storage cabinet (261kWh), and the Xingjiyuan 2000 mobile energy storage vehicle, delivering cost-efficient and advanced solutions for the energy storage industry.

Towngas delivers safe, efficient, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly energy solutions to thousands of households. This September, Towngas Smart Energy will introduce its self-developed smart energy eco-platform, empowering enterprises to achieve integrated generation-grid-load-storage integration and digital-intelligent upgrades in energy management.

Shenzhen's innovation journey: from "City of Electric Buses" to "Supercharging City 2.0"

At the 2023 International Digital Energy Expo, Shenzhen announced to establish itself as a "Digital Energy Pioneer City" — an initiative built on the city's already impressive achievements in digital energy:

From becoming the world's first megacity to achieve 100% electrification of its bus fleet, to surpassing gas stations in density with its widespread supercharging network; from launching a cutting-edge Virtual Power Plant 3.0 platform, to fully initiating the "Supercharging City 2.0" this year —which accelerates the adoption of high-power charging and battery-swap technologies including ultra-fast charging for heavy-duty trucks and flash-charging for passenger vehicles— Shenzhen continues to demonstrate its commitment as a pragmatic innovator, building a comprehensive and structurally robust EV charging infrastructure ecosystem.

Shenzhen has currently deployed 1,055 supercharging stations and over 420,000 charging points, achieving a world-first milestone where the number of supercharging stations and charging guns has surpassed that of gas stations and fuel nozzles. Furthermore, Shenzhen is leveraging its "Supercharging City 2.0" initiative to further strengthen the new energy vehicle industry chain, enhance innovation capacity, and promote high-quality development across the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector.

This year's International Digital Energy Expo will spotlight the progress of Shenzhen's "Supercharging City2.0" initiative. Through featured coverage, case study presentations, and other interactive formats, the event will offer visitors a first-hand look at the city's typical scenarios and groundbreaking applications in the digital energy sector.

At this critical point in the global pursuit of the "dual carbon" goals, Shenzhen is leveraging the expo as a platform to share with the world a replicable and scalable Chinese model for energy transformation.
