THE 2024 International Digital Energy Expo commenced at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District yesterday.
Under the theme "Smart and Digital Energy for Tomorrow," the four-day event has drawn participants from numerous countries including France, the U.K., Mexico, India, Chile, Canada, Egypt, and Greece.
At the opening ceremony, Shenzhen Mayor Qin Weizhong said that the energy revolution is playing a crucial role in propelling the advancement of human society and civilization. He highlighted Shenzhen's commitment to implementing a novel energy security strategy to bolster reforms and support the high-quality development of new energy sources.
The city aims to capitalize on emerging opportunities within the digital energy sector by collaborating with enterprises, institutions, experts, and scholars to drive forward original research, technological breakthroughs, commercialization of scientific achievements, and application demonstrations in digital energy, the mayor said.
The city plans to accelerate the creation of a new energy system and electricity infrastructure, establish a world-class green and low-carbon industrial hub, and evolve into a leading global digital energy pioneer city, the mayor told the audience.
Chen Xingying, a national political adviser, emphasized China's accelerated energy revolution and digital transition to a more intelligent, efficient, and eco-friendly future. Chen underscored Shenzhen's role as a global pioneer city in digital energy as it continues to innovate in this domain.
The expo serves as a premium platform for fostering innovation and collaboration within the digital energy industry, aiming to inspire fresh ideas and create more partnership opportunities among participants, Chen said.
Huang Xuenong, regulatory director of the National Energy Administration, said Shenzhen's international competitiveness in the digital energy sector is increasing, as indicated by this expo showcasing the vast potential and vitality of digital energy.
Also at the ceremony, the Shenzhen Digital Energy Pioneer City Construction Plan, Construction of the Supercharging City, the Virtual Power Plant Regulation and Management Cloud Platform 3.0, and One Network for Electricity Charging, Storage, and Discharge 2.0 were unveiled.
Leading companies like China Southern Power Grid Co., Tencent, BYD, and Huawei showcased their latest products and technological advancements.
